Google Business Profile Optimization in Conroe, TX

Your Business Profile is the listing people see when they find you on Google Maps or in the map results on Google Search. We fill in every part of it the way Google’s guidelines ask, then keep posting to it every month so it always shows recent work. Every SEO plan includes that work, along with a FREE 10-page website.

Most of the Work Is in the Parts People Skip

A lot of profiles get set up once, in a hurry, with a phone number and not much else. We go through yours one part at a time and match every answer to the work you do.

Categories that say what you are

Google’s guidelines ask for as few categories as it takes to describe your core business, each as specific as possible. The test it gives is whether the category finishes the sentence “this business is a” rather than “this business has a.” We pick yours from the jobs you take on most.

A service area drawn by town, not a circle

If you go to your customers, your profile lists the places you work. You can name up to 20 service areas by city or ZIP code, and the whole area should stay within about two hours’ drive of where you’re based. A circle drawn around your shop isn’t an option anymore. We set yours to the towns you’ll drive to for a job.

New job photos, added all year long

Photos let people see the work you do, not just read about it. We add pictures and videos of recent jobs, your trucks and your crew as you send them, a few at a time, so the newest photo on your profile is always a recent one. Accelerate Growth and the bigger plans also include image geo-tagging.

Holiday hours set before the holiday

Regular hours are the easy part. Google has a separate setting for holidays and other days your hours change, and we fill it in ahead of time so the hours people see on those days are the ones you’re actually keeping.

A description in plain words

It shows under “From the business,” and Google gives you 750 characters for it. Links aren’t allowed, and Google asks you to keep it about the business rather than sales or prices. We write a few sentences about the jobs you take and the towns you take them in, using the words your customers would.

Every service listed, with a line about each

Google lets you list the services you offer, each with a short description. We write each one as the answer to a customer asking “do you do that?” so someone looking for gutter guards can see you install them before they ever call.

How Google Decides the Order on the Map

When the same competitor keeps landing above you in the regular map results, there’s a reason for it. Google’s help page, Tips to improve your local ranking on Google, says there’s no way to request or pay for a better local ranking.

The same page says local results come down mainly to relevance, distance and how well known the business is, which Google calls prominence. Pick one under the map to see how it plays out.

Distance is out of everyone’s hands. That’s why our work goes into the other two.

Relevance: does your profile match the search?

Relevance is how well a profile matches what someone typed. Google says complete, detailed business info helps it make that match, and that’s where the categories, services and description above come in. A profile that only says “contractor” has a hard time matching a search for seamless gutter installation.

Distance: how far you are from the person searching

Distance is how far each business is from the customer who’s searching. If they don’t share their location, Google goes by what it knows about where they are. It’s why a competitor across town can land above you for one customer and below you for the next. Nothing on your profile changes how far away you are, so this is the one factor we leave alone.

Prominence: how well known you are

Prominence is how well known a business is. Google says it leans partly on links to your business from other websites and on how many reviews you have, and that more reviews and good ratings can help. Earning those links is what backlink building is for. Citation management keeps your details matching on the directories that list you, so every one of them clearly points back to the same business.

Your Profile Gets a New Post Almost Every Day

Every SEO plan comes with at least 30 profile posts a month, and Regional Leader, the largest, gets 60. Anyone comparing you with other companies nearby sees work you finished last week, not a profile that hasn’t changed since the day it went up.

The posts come from what’s going on in your business: finished jobs with photos, seasonal reminders, offers when you’re running one, and news like a new service or holiday hours.

We don’t pitch posts as a way to climb the map, since Google’s local ranking tips don’t mention them. They’re for the person deciding whether to call you, and they’re one piece of the monthly local SEO work we do for you.

Getting More Reviews the Way Google Allows

Google counts reviews toward prominence, so they’re worth going after. Google is strict about how you get them, though. When it catches a business gaming its reviews, it can block new ones for a while, hide the ones you already have, or put a notice on your profile saying fake reviews were removed.

What we do

  • Set you up to ask every customerWe get your profile’s own review link ready so you can text it to a customer as soon as the job’s done, while the work’s still fresh in their mind.
  • Reply to the reviews you getStarting with Accelerate Growth, we answer your reviews with Google Review Strategic Responses, so the people reading them can see somebody’s paying attention.
  • Answer a bad review calmlyWhen a customer’s unhappy, we help you respond with the facts and an offer to make it right, so the next person who reads it sees how you handle a problem.
  • Flag the fake onesIf a review is spam, posted by a competitor or about some other business, we report it to Google.

What we’ll never do

  • Pay for reviewsNo cash, no discount and no free service in exchange for a review. Google bans all three, and reviews gotten that way come down.
  • Ask only the customers you know are happyGoogle calls that selectively soliciting positive reviews and doesn’t allow it, so the link goes to everybody.
  • Write reviews ourselves or ask your family toGoogle’s policy counts reviews from family, employees and anyone working for the business under contract as a conflict of interest, and that includes us.
  • Make an honest bad review disappearGoogle only removes reviews that break its policy. A fair but unflattering one doesn’t, so we’ll never promise to make it go away.

These rules come from the prohibited and restricted content page of Google’s Maps user-generated content policy, and the penalties come from its help page on Business Profile restrictions.

What to Know Before You Add Us to Your Profile

Is Google My Business the same as Google Business Profile?

Yes. Google renamed Google My Business to Google Business Profile in November 2021. It’s the same profile with the same reviews and photos, and there’s nothing for you to move or set up again.

I work out of my house. Does my home address have to show on Google?

Not if you go to your customers. Google’s guidelines say a business like that should hide its address, so your profile shows your service areas instead. Google still needs the address to verify the business, but it stays hidden from customers.

How long do profile changes take to show up?

Usually minutes, sometimes weeks. Google reviews edits to a verified profile before they go live, and its help page on edits says that review usually takes up to 10 minutes but can take as long as 30 days. Service area changes can take up to 48 hours to appear once they’re approved.

Do I have to give you my Google password?

No. You add us as a manager on your profile from your own Google account, and you stay the owner. If we ever stop working together, you can remove us from the same screen.

What if I never verified my profile, or I lost access to it?

We’ll walk you through either one. Google decides which verification methods your business can use, like a phone call, a text or a short video. If somebody else controls the profile, say a former employee or a marketing company you stopped using, Google has an ownership request we can help you send.

Does my Business Profile matter for AI search?

It does. When Google lists what’s worth doing to show up in AI Overviews and AI Mode, checking that your Business Profile information is current is on that list.
